The Uk government today announced a reduction in the VAT rate today from 17.5% to 15% which takes effect from Monday 1st December 2008 and will run until the end of 2009. We are unclear as to what changes will be made to the flat rate vat scheme, but as information and advice comes in from the HMRC we will publish it here for you. There are many small businesses in the UK who will need advice on what accounting changes need to happen before, during and after the change in the VAT rate.
