- We are a group of residents who came together in 1996 to address the troubling problems in our beloved Cotuit, North, and West Bays. Shellfish beds had been closed for years because of pollution. Algae blooms were fouling our pristine beaches. Dead Neck, an important barrier beach and bird sanctuary, was rapidly eroding and had been breached several times.
