The American Cooperatives School (ACS) in Paramaribo, Suriname was founded in the mid-60's by Suralco to accommodate their expatriate employees. At about the same time, Worldteam started a school for its children which also accomodated children from other organizations. These schools merged in 1984 and were operated by a cooperative mission board. Two years later, the ACS Board bought the school from Suralco.
