- Ameritox Ltd was originally founded in 1996 in Midland, Texas as Universal Toxicology Laboratories (UTL). UTL operated as a federally certified drug testing facility and medical examiner toxicology laboratory.
- In 2003, UTL identified the tremendous need and opportunity for specially-designed urinalysis testing for patients receiving narcotic analgesic therapy to relieve chronic pain. At that time UTL was restructured as Ameritox Ltd.
