- Mesotherapy was innovated in 1952 by Dr. Michael Pistor, a French Homeopathic Physician. In homeopathy small amounts of naturally occurring medicines are given to treat medical problems. Dr. Pistor’s idea was to inject the medicines right into the mesoderm at the area of the body that they were needed rather than have people ingest them resulting in the medicine spreading through out the body. Using the smallest needles made, he had great success and thus the birth of Mesotherapy. The idea of treating cellulite developed and this also had some success. But in the early 1990’s Dr. Patricia Rittes, a Brazilian Aesthetics Dermatologist, pioneered the idea of injecting phosphatidylcholine (PC) or what we call Lecithin into fat pads. Since then she has treated over 24,000 fat pads with remarkable success. Because Mesotherapy is so effective and so safe it has become the fastest growing aesthetic technique in the world.
