- Hey there, I’m a 23-year-old from the Great Lake State. I first became interested in investing and finance when I was about eleven. I have a vivid memory of the time my dad first explained the basic concept of how the stock market worked and why it existed. Ever since then I’ve been hooked on following the stock market, reading financial news, creating financial plans and trading. I’m really glad you’re here and there are just a few things I want you to know. Mainly, I started this blog for a couple reasons. The first is that I love talking about finance. I’m one of those guys that lights up if you ask me why an online savings account pays higher interest than a brick and mortar or what the difference between a Roth IRA and a 401k is. It may seem strange but it makes me happy to help people understand how to best use financial instruments to better their future. The second reason is that I came to a terrible realization that my peers know far too little about investing and retirement–not nearly enough to secure their financial futures. I’m not talking about the ‘get rich quick’ secure your financial future. I mean ‘dedicated contributions every month for the next 45 years’ secure your financial future. If just ONE person starts saving for their retirement because of something I write here, then I consider my job done. Thirdly, A-Train Finance is a tool for me to utilize and reinforce the knowledge that I gain while studying to become a Registered Financial Consultant and later, a Certified Financial Planner. That is what makes me happy and that is why I’m here.
