- AV8 Helicopters is based in East London, South Africa. Brian Katz, owner and founder of the company, started AV8 with two leased helicopters - a two-seater Robinson R22 and a seven-seater Alouette 3. “Don’t go” they said when Brian left Durban in 1999, “It’ll never work”. Six years and thousands of hours later, Brian has proved the need for a helicopter company between Durban and Port Elizabeth on the South African coast.
