- Dr. Louis Hartjen founded Acacia Animal Hospital in Escondido, California on February 2, 1959 at 1254 W. Grant. The street name was later changed to Mission Road due to confusion with Grand Avenue, another nearby street. In 1962 the hospital was expanded and remodeled. This property was purchased by the State of California in 1968 to build the onramp for the Interstate 78 East bound traffic merging onto south bound I-15.
