Arizona Animal Welfare League: AZ's oldest & largest no-kill shelter
edit Description
Excerpted from the website:
- The Arizona Animal Welfare League (AAWL), the largest and oldest "no-kill" shelter in Arizona, opened in 1971. The AAWL was founded by Amanda Blake, who played Miss Kitty on TV's "Gunsmoke", and other animal lovers who were concerned about the number of stray animals at the local county facilities. For over 30 years, the AAWL has rescued thousands of homeless animals and provided important humane services to animals and people. The AAWL is a private, non-profit animal shelter with our own Board of Directors.
