In 1946, Meredith "Monk" Abbitt opened the first Abbitt Realty office in downtown Newport News, Virginia. "Monk" realized Newport News was growing rapidly and needed realtors who would be committed to creating strong relationships that would continue to grow in the future. Richard F. Abbitt carried on his father's values of honesty, integrity and commitment to our community.
