Art Bookbinders of America specializes in binding closing books, legal bookbinding, digital closing books, legal transcripts, custom slipcases and boxes. In 1966, Art Bookbinders of America was founded in a small corner of a warehouse in Chicago. The vision that Roland Poulet set forth, which we still share today, was to be the very best at what we do, offer exceptional service and value and establish long term relationships with our customers. Below are a few highlights from the last 43 years:
- The addition of a full service reproduction center along with unparalleled page checking and quality control in 1986.
- The move to our own 24,000 square foot building which enables us to meet the demands of our customers as well as allows for future growth.
- The expansion of our sales effort to include cities outside of Chicago in 1993.
- The change of our name to Art Bookbinders of America in 1998 to reflect our nationwide presence. We have worked with 575 law firms across the country as well as firms in 7 other countries outside the U.S.
- The design, implementation and successful delivery of presentation materials for many national marketing campaigns, focusing on real estate, architecture, consulting and finance.
- The launch of Digital Closing Books CDs, which are designed specifically for transactional law, in 2000, well ahead of our competitors. Since then, serveral new versions have been launched implementing improvements suggested by our customers.
- The design of a workflow that allows us to include our fully featured CDs complimentary when we copy four or more sets.
- The introduction of innovative products for law firms such as FreeBound, WonderBound, FauxBound and SwivelLock. We tackled the problem of unattractive, barely useable forms of binding and offered several alternatives.
- The implementation of PDF based proofs of titles and names long before our competition. Recently, we added the capability of producing proofs in color which allow you to see exactly what your books will look like before you receive them.
- The implementation of simplified on-line proofs for transactional books as an alternative to shipping a hard copy.
- In 2010, launching of our new product, AXIS® Online Document Management.
We are humbled by the appreciation our customers have shown us over the years, as well as their referrals. Over forty-three years and three generations later, we remain a family owned and operated business.
