AboutUs is a wiki for and about businesses, organizations, blogs, forums, and really anything or anyone that has a website.

Think of us as your guide to websites (that you can also help build).

AboutUs aims to provide you with both an introduction to sites in the areas you care about as well as a way to share your knowledge of those websites. Currently, more than 9 million people visit AboutUs.org each month.

AboutUs domain pages can include a summary of the website as well as more text about it, relevant tags, its contact information, photos or logos, connections with related websites and more... all while linking directly to the website.

As a wiki, information on AboutUs pages can be added to and changed by clicking the edit pencil button... and we encourage you to do so.

In order to protect the integrity of the resource and to engage with fellow editors, AboutUs is committed to reviewing every edit made to its more than 15 million pages.

We also want to be a place where you feel encouraged to contribute and find it easy to do so or learn how. For this reason we have numerous help pages and ways to be contacted.

Our Lists edit

In addition to domain pages about websites, AboutUs.org is now creating lists of the best sites about various topics. Websites that are featured on a list have a box on their domain page saying "Foo.com is related to # lists". You can create your own list about a topic that you care about and you can add a site to an existing list. For more information click here and contact us with any questions.

Our Technology edit

AboutUs was pre-populated with information about many different websites.
The thumbnail images are provided by Name Intelligence's proprietary thumbnail service and provide a link to the referred-to site.
Our CamelCasing of domain names is a Name Intelligence technology, and we use it to help make domain names more readable. If you notice that the CamelCasing is wrong, you can correct it.
The map in the "Website Information" box is from Google Maps' service.
We developed the Page Views and Recent Contributors box (to the right of each page) to make the edits and visits each page receives more transparent.
We created tags as a more user-friendly interface replacement for categories.
Our lists are ranked websites about specific topics. People can create these lists and make them better.

AboutUs works to create policies and guidelines that provide a clear explanation of not only the legal aspects of creating a resource based on the information commons, but also on the values that help promote the WikiWay. Check out the AboutUs Guidelines page for more information.
