Three Ph.D. candidates in the humanities had an existential wardrobe crisis when they started grad school. What to wear, anyway? Undergraduate hoodies and jeans were no longer appropriate, but these ladies were not going to climb into the regulation shoulder-padded khaki polyester suit that was ubiquitous among their female professors.
These intrepid students started shopping the thrift shops, clearance racks and eBay, and each forged a style of her own.
