In August of 2003, two premier area financial institutions – Grand Forks-based Community National Bank established in 1963 and East Grand Forks’s Rural American Bank established in 1964– merged to form Community Bank of the Red River Valley. In July of 2005, Ada-based Rural American Bank established in 1881 merged with Community Bank of the Red River Valley. Prior to the mergers, the three banks enjoyed common ownership.
