- It was formed so that the construction industry might benefit from the body of experience and case law associated with the introduction of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996, the growth in adjudication by means of Expert Determination and Dispute Boards and the increasing popularity of the New Engineering Contract.
- The Society's purpose is to encourage and develop adjudication as a method of resolving construction disputes (without denouncing other procedures, such as arbitration and conciliation) and to provide a regular and informal forum at which adjudication problems and practices may be discussed.
- The Society is run on a not-for-profit basis and no fees are paid to the members of the organising committee. The annual membership fee is £50.
