- Edition of vectors and bit maps -- The edition of vectors and bit maps is now possible without selection of way and it eliminates the necessity to alter constantly between the ways of vector and bit map. When choosing a tool or a type of object, the program deduces automatically if they are going to create or to publish bit maps, vectors or text.
- Easy exporting of files -- The Export button shows the options necessary to export several file formats or styles in HTML and to initiate other Macromedia products from the document window, which saves time of installation and makes the job stream fast.
- Exporting to XHTML -- The XHTML export makes it possible to export, update and import of XHTML with all the styles that Fireworks offers for HTML. The inherited document turns to XHTML that can be used with Macromedia Dreamweaver.

Adobe's Acquisition of Macromedia
On December 03, 2005 Adobe Systems acquired Macromedia and all its products including FreeHand, Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks and Shockwave were renamed to Adobe. With the acquisition of Macromedia, three new products were launched by Adobe, namely, Adobe Design bundle, Flash Professional and Adobe Premiere suite. The company decided to include the Macromedia name on some of its products for a short period of time but after that all the products will be migrated to Adobe brand.
