Adobe GoLive a product of Adobe Systems. GoLive is a complete solution for designing pages based on HTML and for management of websites. It allows its users the maximum flexibility to use their creativity and establish complete control while designing a website. With the use of Adobe GoLive programmers can design a professional and visually appealing website without any trouble. It also includes JavaScript tools and HTML source codes helpful in designing a website with productivity and creativity. Adobe GoLive also supports CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), QuickTime and Dynamic HTML. These three technologies together prove to a powerful implementation of creativity tools.

The latest version of GoLive as of Feb. 2007 is CS2.

New features of Adobe GoLive CS2

  • Enhancements to user interface -- Adobe GoLive has improved the way user works on the application. Also, it has improved the appearance manager in MAC OS 8.5.
  • Multiple selections and formatting of text -- Adobe GoLive enables you to select multiple lines of text and format the same i.e. apply colors, change font size, etc. Unlike table editors in word, the cells you select do not form a contiguous block.
  • Improved support for new web technology -- The new version Adobe GoLive has an improved support for new emerging web technologies like XML (Extensible Markup Language) and Microsoft’s ASP (Active Server Pages).
  • URL Mappings -- The new URL Mappings feature lets experienced Web authors work with Web sites that are distributed over several folders. This feature provides the flexibility to handle complex sites that reside in separate directories on the Web server or on different Web servers.
  • Absolute Paths in URLs -- Adobe GoLive 4.0 lets the author decide whether the path specifications within URLs that reference other items in subfolders of the site folder should be relative or absolute. This feature has been introduced to accommodate applications in which path specifications must be relative to the root folder of the site. It also enables Adobe

GoLive to import sites that use absolute URLs without producing multiple error messages.

Creative Suite Integration

Adobe packages it's most popular graphic design applications as part of a Creative Suite. These applications include: Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Premium versions of Creative Suite also include Acrobat Professional, Dreamweaver and GoLive, although it's been announced that starting with Creative Suite V3 (early 2007), GoLive will be removed in favor of Dreamweaver.
