- When not working for "High Places" as their Latin America specialist or for "Evolution 2" or other Guides Offices in and around Chamonix, he runs Adventure Treks in the Alps and in desert areas.
- He speaks French and Spanish and has lived in Chamonix, France for 12 years. He is married to Valerie and has one married daughter, Emma, and a grandson, Ronan.
- Les taught and ran an outdoor education programme for over 20 years, using all of those school holidays to pursue his love of mountains, rivers and seas by having a plethora of adventures throughout Europe as well as trips to the Himalaya, Canada, Alaska and South America.
