- Upon first encounter it may appear to be possibly the most experimental or eccentric of practices, however specialist Aeroponic installations have been in existence for many years. In the early days it's development was pioneered in the main by Orchid growers. In more recent times it's evolution has been encouraged further by growers of less exotic plants and by N.A.S.A for vegetable production in space. Aeroponics is now an extremely fine tuned practice incorporating accurate cycle timings and consistently sized nutrient particles for better balance of oxidation, pH, and temperature levels. Due to it's legendary performance aeroponic cultivation has attracted the attention of the keenest horticulturists globally. Unfortunately, as with all developmental practices it made friends as well as enemies. There are an awful lot of horror stories about blocked misters and burnt out pumps. These are due mostly to the many failed attempts of self-build enthusiasts whose valiant efforts were more often than not flaunted by the non-availability of suitable components than misguided enthusiasm. Although modern Aeroponic systems make the job look so simple we would still not recommend building DIY aeroponic systems, there is so much trial and error involved in getting it right even the most determined of enthusiasts can be turned off to it.
