- Introduction
- Afrikeye came into being as a website in 1999. Alex Barrett, the founder and editor had first travelled to Southern Africa in 1998 and fell in love with the landscape people and environment. His interest in conservation and the protection of endangered species which had remained pretty well dormant, except for a fascination with wildlife documentaries, since childhood was revived with vigour and he determined to share his experience and newly acquired knowledge as widely as possible.
