African Services Committee Welcome to African Services Welcome to African Services
Description edit
Excerpted from the website:
- In 1981, a small group of Ethiopian refugees established African Services Committee to provide comprehensive resettlement assistance to refugees from Africa. Launched from a Bronx apartment, African Services Committee has since grown to provide health, housing, legal, and social services to more than 7,000 African immigrants and refugees each year from our offices in West Harlem, New York City.
- The mission of African Services Committee is to improve the health and self-sufficiency of the African community through provision of direct health, housing, social and legal services to African refugees and immigrants in New York City, and AIDS advocacy, policy work, and technical assistance benefiting African NGOs in both the US and Africa.
- We envision providing access to essential services and opportunities for community development, through building of a strong and multi-ethnic base of skills and cooperation among African nationalities in the U.
