- Ellinger’s Agatized Wood Inc. started making wood bowls and trays in 1950, after the original owners Walt and Hubert Ellinger saw wood dishware being manufactured while on a trip to Germany. The concept is to use wood blended with Melamine formed by compression molding to make bowls of all shapes and sizes. The result is durable, waterproof wood bowls and tableware. Because they are molded at extreme heat and pressure they are nearly indestructible. They are very resistant to breakage and unharmed by water, grease and most household chemicals. All products are maintenance free, dishwasher safe, and hot or cold foods may be served in them.
