2007 Q2 AboutUs Stakeholder Meeting Agenda
Executive Summary
The past three months have allowed AboutUs to improve overall operations, make needed improvements to the site and nurture its growing community. We are pleased to share the summary below, and as always, there is a much higher level of detail on the site itself.
Traffic Overview
Growth in traffic continues to be strong with a doubling occurring roughly every three months.

Development goals achieved this past quarter
- Major enhancements
- Recent changes patrolling tool launched; patrolling speed is now increased to roughly 4X which is both allowing us to keep up with 3,000 edits per day and making time available for other tasks.
- Presence meters implemented; front page now shows users online and what they have just edited, thus better engaging casual users.
- Lucene search engine implemented; system no longer crashes on multi-word queries, overall speed improved.
- Image server; images are now served off of a separate server which relieves the primary database server and increases overall performance.
- Minor but notable enhancements
- OpenID; users can now log in with OpenID
- Video Support; YouTube video's can now be easily added to any page
Announcements
- Ward Cunningham, inventor of the wiki, has joined the AboutUs team as its Chief Technology Officer. His considerable experience with wiki culture and also as founder of XP (extreme programming) will help lead the company to its next phase of growth.
- Opening the Lahore, Pakistan office represents a critical competency for building the AboutUs team. During May's visit, we were able to introduce AboutUs to several of the top universities and recruit 3 developers and 4 content and community creators.
- Management has signed a lease with OMCC and the company is scheduled to move into the B&O building in the central east side of Portland on August 1st. The new offices will be able to house the growing number of employees while giving the company a flexible space needed for agile development of both code and content.
