As well as a BS (U. of Denver) and a PhD (University College, U. of London), she holds a certificate in interior design from Portland Community College (Oregon). A professional member since 1997 and past officer of the Northwest Society of Interior Designers, she is now a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (New England chapter) and holds NCIDQ certificate number 020031.
