- 接下來的這一年之中，這個由行動而促成的新組織－「國際特赦組織（Amnesty International）」，派出代表團到四個國家為囚犯辯護，共接下了210個案件。他們並且在7個國家裡成立「分會」。 國際特赦組織關注全世界的人權案件，並且特別強調獨立與公正性，所以各分會都必須堅持「不介入本國案件」的原則。這樣的公正性，以及人權運動的推展，讓該組織於1977年榮獲「諾貝爾和平獎」。
