Title
Alcohol / Drug Council of North Carolina
Description
Excerpted from the website:
- Incorporated in the 1960s as United Health Services, the organization once served as a conduit for monies raised through United Way of North Carolina to support research at the state’s medical school.
- UHS changed its mission in the 1970s to focus on what it determined was the No. 1 unmet health need in the United States – substance abuse. Since then, the Alcohol/Drug Council of North Carolina, as it was renamed in 1989, has evolved into a provider of advocacy, information and referral services and public education for the state.
