< LASIK Equipment

The LADARVision CustomCornea system for LASIK, by Alcon.

CustomCornea edit

CustomCornea is one of the most advanced LASIK procedures currently on the market. It differs from standard LASIK procedures because it is 1)fully customized to your eyes and 2)addresses higher order aberrations (more subtle vision problems) in your eyes that are harder to detect.

LADARWave WaveFront Device edit

The LADARWave creates a 3-D WaveFront map of each of your eyes by measuring the refracted light from a mapping laser. This WaveMap is used to both determine the course of surgery and to guide the laser through it. The WaveFront map is entirely unique to each of your eyes so the procedure is completely individualized.

LadarTracker edit

The LadarTracker takes measurements on the positioning of your eye over 4,000 times per second, making it the fastest tracking system on the market¹. Implementing a closed loop system, the tracker follows the eye at all times and can respond to any movement in 1ms².

Note: The tracker requires 7mm of pupil diameter to track effectively. This necessitates dilation².

After the WaveFront map is matched to your eye's positioning, the cornea is precisely reshaped using a LADARVision Excimer Laser. Corneal tissue is removed according to the specific higher and lower order aberrations of your eye (See LASIK Surgery for more specific information on this part of the procedure). This process is guided by the LADARVision eye tracking device and tailored to the specific characteristics of our eye.
