- AllAboutIrish opened in September, 2001, with the goal of being a central place to explore the wonderful and engaging Irish world that lives not just in Ireland, but throughout the Irish Diaspora.
- The impetus to launch the site independently came when About.com decided to discontinue its World Cultures Channel. AllAboutIrish became the home for the hundreds of pages that were formerly About's "Irish Culture"site, and new content was added as well.
