Hello, My name is Vikki M Pratt and I am the president of The Backcountry Backpacking - Camping Center. This site has developed from my passion for the Backcountry and being in nature.
As a child I spent most of my summers camping with my family. We mostly did trailer camping but I took every possible opportunity to vernture out into the wilderness. I developed a real love for the outdoor and for mother nature. My first backpacking experience was a guided trip with an organization called Ghost River Rediscovery. We hiked for 10 days through the Ghost River Wilderness area. This was an amazing experince that changed my life forever. I realized the importance of living true to who I am and not allowing society to depict who and what I should be.
After this life changing experience I quit my job, sold many of my belongings and moved out of my apartment. I joined the Youth Leadership Program with Ghost River Rediscovery and I spent the next 8 months living in tents, snow shelters, and tarps in the wilderness. We not only learned amazing skills living as a group and a community but we also worked with Peter Sherington and his Eagle migration research, we monitered the movement of wolves through the area, we learned Wilderness First Aid and we learned to organize and facilitate Wilderness Programs for children and youth.
