My first interest in home-improvement began when I was 6, when my stepfather was an architect for Virginia Homes. My grandparents did the detail work when the homes’ construction was completed, which sparked my interest as a tradesman. As soon as I was able to in school, I took metal working, woodworking, drafting and manufacturing up to 9th grade. Then in high school, I went directly into the trades and took electrical.
