Founded in 1981 as The Vermont Wildflower Farm in Charlotte, VT, American Meadows has grown into one of the largest and most respected suppliers of flower seed in North America. We currently service virtually all facets of the trade, from large-scale commercial customers, states and other municipalities to stores, garden centers, and individual home gardeners all over North America.
The Vermont Wildflower Farm was the brainchild of a Florida advertising executive and wildflower enthusiast, Ray Allen, and his wife, Chy, who moved to the Champlain Valley of Vermont in 1980 to fulfill their dream of popularizing wildflower gardening with the wider public.
Originally conceived as only the 6-acre tourist attraction with gift and seed shops which the Allen's called "The Wildflower Farm," which today is owned by our friends Diana and Chris Borie, the company quickly grew within a few years to include a nationally distributed seed and gift catalog.
