Mergers and Acquisitions
Many mergers created American-Standard. Way back in 1872, John B. Pierce started a tin ware shop, in Ware, Massachusetts. It was just the beginning and business grew like anything. He later laid the foundation of Pierce Steam Heating Company which later emerged as American Radiator Company. Now this company in 1929 merged with Standard Sanitary Company. Their products multiplied quickly in most homes not just in America but also in Europe. The merger of American Radiator and Standard Sanitary Corporation merged their names too to form American Standard.

Last but not the least American Standard is a worldwide leader in vehicle control systems. Their products, sold under the name WABCO, include vehicle braking, stability, suspension and transmission control systems for heavy commercial vehicles.
