American Surgical Centers (ASC) is a management and billing company for free-standing outpatient surgical facilities founded in 1993. ASC developed one of Michigan's first surgery centers independently owned from the hospitals in 1996. The concept of performing cases solely in the facility evolved as reimbursement for physicians performing cases in their offices began to decline.
