- The Amputees in Action story begins back in the depths of the Irish country side whilst filming a little known film called “Saving Private Ryan”, you may have heard of it! Several amputees were used on this film to add that extra shock to the imagery that you see. Somehow during this film we were handed over to the stunt department, needless to say the Stuntmen saw the potential of using amputees and used us accordingly. Just imagine it bodies and parts of bodies being thrown all over the place, have a look at the film and see for yourself. The idea of an agency that specialises in just amputees was discussed with a fellow amputee whilst sitting in his mobile deck chair (Citroen Diane, no offence meant) after a busy day’s filming on the “Ryan” set; we tried to figure out how to go about this huge task. This is where the idea got shelved and we went our separate ways.
