To provide much-needed coverage of visual artists, filmmakers, theater artists, literary writers, composers, and the venues that present their works in our region; and to place the activities of these artists and venues in a global context through coverage of national and international arts-related events.
Amy Bracken Sparks is an award-winning critic, writer and poet. Former arts editor for the Cleveland Free Times, she won top honors in film criticism from the Association of Alternative Newspapers in 1995, Best Critic in Ohio in 1998 and Best Columnist in Ohio in 2000 from the Society of Professional Journalists, as well as numerous other local press awards. She is the author of two books of poetry, serious red (Cleveland State University Poetry Center, 1996) and queen of cups (Burning Press, 1993), and has had work published in American Poetry Review, Denver Quarterly, Southern Poetry Review, Nimrod, ArtCrimes, Mirage Period(ical), Kiosk, situation, and Whiskey Island Quarterly.
