The simple, classical, Georgian proportions of the Annandale Arms Hotel have dominated the centre of the attractive country town of Moffat since 1750. Originally named the King's Arms Hotel,it was purpose built as a hotel to serve the horse drawn mail coaches that were introduced in the mid 1700s. These ran in a relay from London to Edinburgh and back taking some three days to complete each journey. Today the hotel stands as a focal point in Moffat. Having recently undergone a major refurbishment and modernisation the Annandale caters for both the travelling public as well as a popular local meeting place. The hotel has won a number of awards the most recent from Hotel Review Scotland Red H 2008 for hospitality and Gold Plate 2008 for the restaurant dining.

Behind the Tuscan columns that form the entrance to the Annandale Arms Hotel is hidden a small smart comfortable hotel. All the bedrooms have been newly refurbished to a very high standard. All have ensuite bathrooms or shower rooms many have both. There is an excellent restaurant that uses the best of local Scottish produce to serve some mouth watering meals in a modern innovative style. The hotel has a good wine list and stocks a large selection of Scottish single malt whiskies. There is a large private car park in the court yard at the rear of the building for sole use of the guests.
