- I started Downwind in late 2008 shortly after I received my PPL at the Royal Victorian Aeroclub at Moorabbin Airport in Victoria. I found that I really wanted to share about my own experiences as a new pilot and learn from other pilots so that my aviation knowledge would continue to grow after the formal training. As with all things on the Internet Downwind has continued to expand more pilots have joined in the community and contributed everything from their own blogs, photos, advice and an enormous amount of experience. All of which is good!
