In 1949 a group of parents banded together to find a way to provide services for their children with intellectual disabilities when no such services existed. They ran and ad in the local newspaper announcing that there would be a meeting at the Red Bank Borough Hall. An association emerged from the meeting that has evolved into a large and growing agency, The Arc of Monmouth.
