Title edit
First United Methodist Church of Arlington
Description edit
Excerpted from the website:
- In 1878, a group of "people called Methodists" met in the office of Schults' lumber yard at Mesquite and Front streets and officially organized themselves into a church. That location was to be their meeting place for nearly seven years.
- The Journal of the Northwest Texas Conference of 1878 listed this congregation as part of the "Arlington Circuit." The number of members the first year is unknown; however, in 1882 the church school reported 65 members.
