- About the Artist
- Lucy Nel was born in 1959 in the coastal town of Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa.
- It was only in 1998 that the artist was inspired to try her hand at painting with oils on canvas. With guidance from recognized local artists she painted a broad spectrum of subjects. Her paintings reveal the innocence of an artist that paints with inner feeling, void of the prescriptive theories often imposed on artists.
