- The Houston Chapter was established and chartered in 1968. It was organized to serve as a medium in the solution of professional problems pertaining to plumbing engineering as it effects the profession, the community and the general public; to advance the general scientific interests of plumbing engineering profession and inculcate the desire for scientific achievement in the field among the members of the Chapter; to bring about greater cooperation and understanding between the members of the Chapter and local plumbing officials, contractors and the public. Today the Plumbing Engineer is responsible for much more than the supply of potable water and the removal and treatment of sanitary and industrial wastes. The field is challenging and varied, including everything from aeration ponds to zinc plating.
