- What is the idea?
I honestly think Australia is not recognised enough for all its natural beauty and all that it has to offer. This web site is how I aim to do my part, as one person, to further promote my country world wide. My long term objective is to see this site actually make a difference in tourism and also an even bigger difference in simplifying the process of promoting businesses or sites, booking accomodation and activities and ofcourse, meeting friends and growing a social network (see 'just for fun' section). This idea was ignited by the fact that when I first got married and wished to take a small local holiday, I got fed up with the exhausing hassle of browsing a number of sites to find a place to stay and spending hour after hour trying to locate sites with things to do. Thats when I said to myself someone should do something about it. I put it in the back of my mind, but when your married, with kids and two mortgages its not something easily done. It wasn't until a few months later until I decided to finally to make the initiative and take action. The site is now up and running and hopefully will make things alot easier. It should eventually operate as a one stop shop for all that you will need across for things to do in oz, places to stay and a great place to either meet others and increase your network of friends or advertise your site and promote your business.
Obviously in the process, I will be honest in saying that I would like to make a few dollars out of this and make my own personal dream come true. That is, to spend less endless hours slaving away in the office while trying to pay of the mortgages and support the family and be finally able to invest more quality time with the ones that matter most. I also would love to make a significant contribution to some of the great Australian charities and that is a commitment I will uphold.
On a separate note, I am known for my strong creative and strategic ability so this also presents an interesting challenge. It will be much work but I am prepared to put in the effort. I did pay close attention to the pixel advertising phase a few years back so you may see some similarities, however, this site is unique in many ways and also corresponds with an objective close to my heart. Australia has been underestimated for long enough and the time has come to create a level of awareness that will become part of internet history. I invite all to join me in becoming apart of it!
Why should I place an ad?
The site is a convenient portal with access to all that you will need when looking for things to do and places to shop or dine or anything else which may come to mind. Its a great place to advertise your web site, business or even yourself!. The aim is have each advertiser report a significant increase in hits and visitors to their site, however, this will be a steady increase in accordance to the growth and popularity of this site. Thats where I come in. As you will see the home page is a free for all, advertising just about anything and everything.
What is the 'just for fun' section about?
This section is very unique on the world wide web. It is a great place to increase your popularity and significantly increase your network of friends. You do this by having your photo uploaded on to the pixels along with a comment of your choice. Once clicked on, the photo link is automatically directed to your profile on facebook, myspace or any other site where a request can be made to add you as a friend.
No longer will you need to spend hours looking for contacts, just upload your photo and wait for people to request to become your friend. It's also another great way to advertise a group and have people join it if you have one set up. In due course, the aim is that this site will become one of the most commonly known sites to locate friends and increase your popularity.
How long will the site be online?
At least 5 years, however, it may be for much longer as I do not have any intentions of removing the site.
What's this about half a million dollars to charity?
I have decided that once every pixel on four of the five grids on this web site has been sold, I will be donating HALF A MILLION DOLLARS out of the profits made to an Australian Charity. This is another way I will be able to give back to my country as one person trying to make a difference. What's even better, you, the Australian public, will get to choose the charity. Once all pixels have been sold I will be on the look out for an outsourced online voting system which will enable the Australian public to choose which of the selected charities the half a million dollars in profits should be provided to. The vote will be official and won't be conducted on this site; I am thinking ninemsn or somewhere similar.
