Welcome to Corpus Christi of Aliso Viejo
edit Description
volunteers gathered with Fr. Fred Bailey (Associate Pastor at St. Timothy's in Laguna Niguel) to begin discussion about starting a Sunday Mass in Aliso Viejo. Permission was obtained from Bishop McFarland. The auditorium at Oak Grove Elementary School was rented from Capistrano Valley School District and over 9,000 flyers were distributed door to door by volunteers in early December.
Mass for "The Pastoral Extension of St. Timothy's to the People of Aliso Viejo" began on January 4, 1998. On Sunday mornings the school became informally know as "St. Oak Grove" by the local community and we quickly outgrew the Oak Grove auditorium. August 1998 saw our move to Aliso Viejo Middle School, with overflow crowds attending the single Sunday Mass offered each week.
In August 1998 our Catholic-Christian faith community's web-site (www.avcatholics.org) became a reality. For some, it was a good resource for news and information. For others, it was the source of how they actually came to know of us in their midst and join our community. It is planned to continue in it's role as a primary vehicle of parish communication.
