Mark Smith was born in Bayonne, New Jersey. The 4th son of a Policeman and a Registered Nurse, he learned early the value of family, friendship and service to community. Mark and his brothers and sister grew up in a modest home on West 26th Street full of love and energy. He attended St. Henry's Grammar School and Marist High School where he was elected by his peers as their class president. In 1983, Mark sat for and passed a competitive test for the Bayonne Police Department.
