Description
1973, June 25, 01.15 am: I was born, or so they tell me and I was given the name John. I grew up at the Belgian coast and took my first steps wandering through the dunes near the French boarder. The memories of those early years in that small seaside village will never let go of me: “If you’re found of sand dunes and salty air, quaint little villages here and there” ~ Groove Armada, at the river. In 1985 I moved to the city and attended high school in Ghent at 'Voskenslaan'.
Just 18 I decided to rebel against a family tradition. Instead of studying anatomy, chemistry, biology and neurology I dived into statistics, economics, accounting, law and sociology. During my studies Economy at the University of Ghent I spent quite a lot of time writing for a range of computer and marketing magazines (Wave, Computer Magazine, Markant, De Morgen, De Mix). Eventually I studied Financial Management and Marketing Decisions at Instima and Private Equity Management at the European Venture Capital Association Institute.
In 1994 I started as an independent Marketing Consultant. Through years of working experience I specialized in strategic marketing missions for Telecommunications companies. some of the companies I have worked for include BT Belgium (Brussels, Belgium), BT Openworld (London, United Kingdom), Cable & Wireless (Panama, Panama), Ciudad del Saber (Panama, Panama), Telefonica (Santiago, Chile), EUnet (Leuven, Belgium), Qwest (US, Denver), Mobistar (Brussels, Belgium), Telenet (Mechelen, Belgium), The House of Marketing (Mechelen, Belgium).
