Before starting the balloon operation in Queenstown he spent 7 seasons gold mining in Canada's Yukon Territory after shipping a floating dredge and excavator over from New Zealand. Hugh also spent 11 years mining in New Zealand and previous to that spent some years lobster fishing off the coast of South Westland NZ.
Hugh and Maureen have four children, two sons and two daughters who sometimes help out with the ballooning operation. Youngest son Graham is now based in London working for a new media agency and looking after the Company website. Kirsty will take you Horse Trekking with High Country Horses in Glenorchy at the head of Lake Wakatipu and Carrick will take you Parasailing with Queenstown Paraflights from Queenstown bay. Rachel is at home looking after her daughter Olivia and expecting another child in February.
Pius is a Tandem Parapente Pilot and Andre and Dave run Family Adventures and specialize in family rafting on a Grade 2 stretch of the Shotover River which is accessed by the Skippers Road, a very interesting drive on an old gold mining route.
