Description
François raced off-road motorcycles and cars in France. He came to the United States in 1987 and participated in motorcycle desert racing. François retired from racing in 1989 and started a company in California specializing in renting race-ready motorcycles and providing technical support at major off-road races. He also organized motorcycle and 4x4 expeditions in Baja, Mexico. François is well known for his preparedness, sense of adventure and passion for driving anything on wheels. He also wants to sky dive, fly ultra lights and hang gliders. He likes to travel with no definite itinerary and the freedom to stop for one hour or one week at any given place. A Mac computer user, he wants little to do with my IBM laptop saying that it is too complicated to use. I know he will learn to like it on the road.
Sandra spent most of her life studying and graduated from UC Berkeley in 1990 with a major in Psychology. She had never really traveled much or taken a desert trip and had never ridden a motorcycle. Her first crash occurred on an old Z50, after about 12 yards on the bike... Since, she's doing pretty good on her XR100 and can even ride a XR250. Sandra had a stable seven-year position with the State of California, which meant a cubicle and the occasionally disgruntled tax-paying customer. We got married in 1997 and by the end of that year, we had decided to travel in her native Mexico and beyond. Sandra lived in the state of San Luis Potosi, Mexico, from age 9 to 15. She is not scared of experiencing new things; her worry about this trip is to figure out how many pairs of shoes she can sneak into the LandCruiser.
