Bank of Camden, the only locally owned and directed banking institution in Benton County, is a community bank dedicated to providing the total banking and investment needs of our trade area. By providing these services, we hope to enhance the quality of life, thereby promoting economic stability and growth for our customers and employees, as well as enhancing stockholders equity.
The Bank of Camden opened for business on February 28, 1931, with G. R. Allison, President and Chief Executive Officer. The Bank was located on the north side of the Court Square and later moved to 102 E. Main Street where the Uptown Office is presently located. As the bank grew, more locations were added for the convenience of the community. The West End Drive-In branch was added in May of 1972, and in October of the same year, a full-service branch was opened in Big Sandy. The Uptown Office was remodeled and enlarged in 1978. When the business community began to expand along Hwy. 641, a modern, full-service bank, including a Community Room, was erected and opened for business in August 1995.
Mr. Allison continued to serve the Bank until February 28, 1951. Mr. J. V. Walker succeeded him as President and CEO on March 30, 1951, and functioned in this capacity until his retirement on February 11, 1964. Mr. Richard Hargis assumed the Presidency on that date and served until his death on January 25, 1980. At that time, Mr. J. W. Ward became the President and CEO. In March of 1989, Mr. Ward assumed the position of Chairman of the Board and CEO, and Mr. P. Stanley Medlin was elected President and Cashier. Upon Mr. Ward’s retirement on December 31, 1996, he retained the position of Chairman of the Board, Mr. Medlin became the President and CEO, and Danny Seaton was promoted to Executive Vice President and Cashier. After the death of Mr. Ward in 1998, Mr. Andrew Frazier, as oldest tenured director, was elected Chairman of the Board.
