Description
My wife and I welcome you to Bare Cove B&B of Hingham, the first and only B&B in Hingham, MA. We are located on a private lane off of 235 Rockland Street, at the top of the second hill, in a large English–style mansion surrounded by forest and wildlife. There is a sign for our B&B on Rockland Street and a second sign at the top of the first hill.
Our elegant Tudor-style, brick and stucco house was built in 1929 by my father, a Harvard-educated architect, who lived in this house his whole life, who practiced architecture in Boston and surrounding towns for over 60 years, and who was Chairman of the Hingham Historical Society during his later years until his death in 1994. His love of architecture is clear in this house, the result of his admiration for the homes he had seen in England during his honeymoon, and my preservation of this unique structure is in honor of my father’s contribution to New England’s architecture. Outside the house, the landscaped 2.15 acres of grounds reveal a series of ten soldier-like majestic oaks and one Norwegian pine – all over 100 years old and standing sentinel before and beside my father’s magnificent creation.
For our foreign visitors, we offer the following foreign languages: I speak French, Spanish, German and some Japanese and my wife speaks two languages of the Philippines, Cebuano and Tagalog.
