Originally formed in 1999, the Washington Baseball Club, L.L.C., is a group of eight general partners and three limited partners dedicated to returning the National Pastime to the Nation's Capital.

In January 2002, WBC entered into an exclusive agreement with the D.C. Sports & Entertainment Commission to work together to bring Major League Baseball back to Washington, D.C.
